During my recent NYC fabric shopping trip, I made sure to visit a few of my favorite museums for design and fabric inspiration.
At the Metropolitan Museum of Art, I was completely drawn into the world of John Singer Sargent’s Portraits, many of artists and friends dressed in gorgeous attire.
Then I visited the Neue Galerie, home to Gustav Klimt’s portrait “Woman in Gold,” starring the wonderful Helen Mirren—another “Evolved Woman!”
I was captured by the breath-taking quality of the work of these two 19th Century painters: their ability to create, with paint, the sensuality, lushness, realityof gorgeous materials, jewelry, skin, hair… The links tell you about the painter and give a tiny hint of the work but in person the velvets, silks, cottons and embellishments are so real you want to touch them, wear them, as you would real garments.
I hope that my designs, fabrics and embellishments inspire you too!
