The second was Mr. Kirkup, an English gentleman tailor who lived next door to us. He was probably in his 80’s when I knew him and he worked everyday in his basement studio with the large high table, the bright overhead lights and the enormous shears. He made bespoke men's suits in strictly British fabrics. Every minute I spend in my studio, I spend with my mother and Mr. Kirkup. "
